Evoking Solomonis is Granblue Fantasy’s latest gamemode, it’s a drafting roguelite inspired by popular games in the genre like FTL and Slay the Spire. In Solomonis, your goal is build towards a powerful endboss, going from scrappy to godlike in a limited amount of turns.

This is a very skill testing gamemode, and it can often be intimidating to newcomers. The aim of this article is to convey all the info you need to know to play Solomonis effectively.

Intro

Before we begin, Evoking Solomonis as a gamemode is in many ways a game knowledge check. If you’re not already confident on your ability to put together teams and grids on your own, I’d highly recommend checking out my Grid Building Guide (text) or Granblue Academy (video) - they mostly cover the same topics.

Evoking Solomonis is a map-based roguelite, where every step you take on the map costs a turn. Nodes can contain multiple different features, such as basic enemies, elite enemies, events, or shops. Unlocking Solomonis requires having an Evoker’s 4th Skill - this will unlock the gamemode for that Evoker. You need to unlock each evoker’s path separately.

At specific turn thresholds, you’ll start seeing Miasma start creeping in- it’s a type of “poison” that damages you every turn you stand in it. A few turns after the Miasma stops, a boss will spawn, and the Miasma will then march towards it.

After the first boss dies, enemies will become a lot stronger, and the cycle repeats again for the final boss.

So now that we have a rough idea of how the gamemode is structured, it’s time to figure out what we want to take in.

Now, a huge disclaimer here, this article will detail my strategy for Solomonis. My expedition level is maxed and I’ve cleared every character (so far) on the max difficulty so I like to think I mostly know what I’m talking about. Still, the gamemode is open ended, so there’s multiple other ways to go about it. Think of it as a way to win, not the way to win.

Team Building

Team Building for Evoking Solomonis operates different from any other content in the game. As Solomonis is a roguelite mode, the characters you’ll have access to will vary from run to run.

As you clear runs in Solomonis, you’ll increase your expedition level, which slightly boosts your stats. You’ll also gain access to Blessings, which can change your run. However, you won’t have access to a full team, grid, or summon deck from the get go. At the start you’ll only have access to your MC plus the evoker you’re running with, three weapons, and your main summon.

Your first few runs are likely to be a bit rough, as you won’t have any Expedition Level stats or Blessings. Once you have enough points for it, focus on unlocking The Hanged Man, which lets you take an additional character. We’ll call it a “plus one”.

That’s good and all, but how do we even make a functional setup with this many limitations?

The answer is… you don’t. You’re not supposed to build something on the Party screen that can solve Solomonis for you. You instead want to focus only on the first few turns of the run.
